News and workshops
Hello again, thanks for checking out our website, hope you are enjoying it.
As you know, if you have a passion about something it's very hard to get 'other' work done! It keeps drawing you back - my sewing room is like that, it's all go. I'm having great fun creating and playing with new ideas and designs. Not all of them will make it to classes or patterns but I just love playing with the ideas and fabrics. One very kind friend gave me some of her handmade felt and I can't bear to put it away, It's just calling me to use it. I should be doing a million other things!
I have a couple of new designs ready to teach, (see photos' at top of page) one is 'Fishy Flossie', she is a bit like the one on my 2009 calendar but with a large fish for her hat, a little fishing rod, sardines in her apron and a snapper under her arm. Bright eyed and with a cheeky smile, she is a happy wee soul and we will have a lot of fun making her.
The other design is the 'Father of the Bride', a very handsome slightly rotund gentleman who is 'dressed up to the nines' and stands proudly beside the 'Mother of the Bride'. They compliment each other perfectly. (I did hear a comment that he looked like he was 'eyeing' up the bridesmaids but think that it is only a rumor someone started - extremely unfair!) He is going to cause some laughs in class and of course he could be a businessman or in fact any male you wish to make him, it's all in your personalizing of him. These two patterns are not available for retail.
We are still supplying our 'Turning Tools' to many of our customers' who are finding they are the best and easiest way to turn those tiny fingers like those on 'Maggie' and many of our other doll patterns. Detailed instructions for use included! To purchase our Turning Tools and Patterns New Zealand customers may email us to receive an invoice with payment details included. Turning Tools are $10 NZD ea and most patterns are $17 NZD ea. P&P of $1.50 will cover most orders
Once again I am looking forward to seeing friends again and meeting new doll maker's. For those who haven't been to a doll class before, 'just do it', you'll enjoy a fun, friendly and creative day. Second picture on left shows two beautiful little Maggies' and their makers from a class at the Cloth Shop in Palmerston Nth.
Check out the first lot of class venues below and some of the workshop dolls opposite, will keep adding to the list during the year!
Cheers, Jill
